- fully living in this sacred now/here moment
- listening for the nightbird's song
- walking with awareness the path of the humanist imperative
- committing every breath to memory
- practicing tonglen
- doing acts of tikkun olam
- loving hungry ghosts
- singing hymns to the dark
- a rambling ee cummings sensibility to punctuation
- the one who believes in you
All love is expansion,
all selfishness is contraction.
Love is therefore the only law of life.
He who loves lives, he who is selfish is dying.
Therefore love for love's sake,
because it is law of life,
just as you breathe to live.
- Swami Vivekananda -
i know there is only one power worth having. and that is the power, not to take, but to accept. not to have, but to give.
My dad worked for GE for a lot of years, in design. He used to design those huge, ornate TV cabinets with the big 'wooden' doors with fancy designs 'carved' in them...remember those?
Anyway, one day, he brought home one of the cabinets he had designed. I was four or five years old. I walked up to the cabinet and opened the doors. The cabinet was empty. I think I said, "Where's the TV Daddy?"
Then I sat inside the cabinet and closed the doors and stayed in there for a while.
